TOKYO, JAPAN – April 24, 2023 – Terumo Corporation today announced that its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative as aligned with a 1.5°C global warming scenario, the most ambitious level of climate action defined by the initiative.
The approved targets cover both Terumo's direct operational emissions and emissions across its value chain, reflecting the company's commitment to contributing to global efforts to limit climate change in line with the Paris Agreement.
"Achieving 1.5°C-aligned target validation from the SBT initiative underscores our commitment to environmental sustainability as part of our broader corporate responsibility," said a Terumo representative. "We will continue to take concrete actions across our operations and supply chain to reduce our environmental impact."
Terumo will continue to implement initiatives across its global operations aimed at reducing energy consumption, increasing renewable energy use, and engaging suppliers on emissions reduction as part of its path toward these validated targets.
