TERUMO INDIA EARNED THE ‘BEST PUBLIC HEALTH INITIATIVES’ OF THE YEAR 2021-22

Terumo India has been recognized for 'Best Public Health Initiatives’ of the year 2021-22 by the Indian CSR Awards. This award recognizes the selfless work done by Terumo India during COVID19 of providing health equipment to multiple centres spread across India and introducing COVID19 Safer Procedures guidelines to more than 1000 hospitals. The award acknowledges the organization’s ongoing Congenital Heart Disease Program for children and Perfusion scholarship Program.

The award was presented by Dr. Kiran Bedi, a well-renowned Social Activist, the first woman in India to join the officer ranks of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and was the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry (Union Territory of India). She also served as a Police Advisor in the United Nations Department of Peace Operations. She is the recipient of various awards including the President’s Police Medal, Asia Region Award, Pride of India, Morrison Tom Gitchoff Award by Western Society of Criminology, United States, Ramon Magsaysay Award.

During the second wave of Covid, India was strongly impacted as the daily cases rose rapidly and even crossed 400,000 mark. In such circumstances, Terumo group companies with its commitment towards its corporate social responsibility, came forward to help people in dire need by making contributions along with procurement of Oxygen Concentrators and BiPAP machines which were donated as part of relief packages to multiple Covid Care Centers.

Over the years Terumo India has partnered with independent organisations to support the screening and treatment of underprivileged communities for Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). In collaboration with implementing agency, TIPL has organised various screening camps and till date 352 Children have been provided financial support to undergo cardiac surgery. In addition to the above, Terumo India in collaboration with Narayana Hrudayalaya Foundation has ‘Terumo Perfusion Scholarship Programme’ which aims to provide support for education leading to employment amongst economically weaker sections.
