TOKYO, JAPAN – October 2, 2023 – Terumo Corporation today announced that it will cease distribution of Dexcom continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems in Japan, as Dexcom transitions to a direct distribution model in the market.
Terumo has served as a distribution partner for Dexcom's CGM systems in Japan, supporting patients with diabetes in accessing continuous glucose monitoring technology. Following Dexcom's move to establish a direct commercial presence in Japan, Terumo will transition out of this distribution role.
"We are proud of the role we have played in bringing Dexcom's CGM technology to patients in Japan," said a Terumo representative. "We will work closely with Dexcom to ensure a smooth transition for healthcare providers and patients during this change."
Terumo remains committed to supporting patients with diabetes through its broader portfolio of medical technologies and continues to explore opportunities to serve this patient population going forward.
